Need help with orphan duckling

It needs a water supply do that it can dunk it's head but not drown. Some people will take a milk carton and cut a whole on the side with enough water to dunk head. They need this whenever food is available. The water clears the openings. I used an old cat water fountain

He doesn’t do it often, I’ve been putting him in my bathroom sink to prevent chill and yes I dry him very well. Doesn’t seem to like dunking.

ducklings that age rarely dunk, they are still learning those kinds of things, I've had ducks for years and never found one that dunked until they were closer to 3 weeks old. So don't worry if it's not dunking, definitely make sure it has water deep enough to dunk it's bill in but can't drown (like has already been suggested) they won't necessarily dunk their beaks when they eat, but they do have to have water to drink while they eat. Ducks (unlike chickens) MUST have water with their food.

I have never given grit to my ducks, I know it's the normal recommendation but I've personally never done it. Once they get to laying age they have oyster shell and use that as grit I suppose but I've never given them grit at such a young age. Nothing wrong it, don't misunderstand, it's probably a good idea, I'm just saying, I've had many ducks and never once gave them grit. (which means they probably won't die if you can't get any immediately)
