Need help with pop door

Whatever you do for tracks, make sure there's a lip across the bottom on the outside of the coop, that overlaps the bottom of the door, so that raccoons can't slip their little hands underneath the door and push it up. Just nail a 1"-wide strip across the bottom from the outside, that should be enough.
We plan on putting it outside and almost making like trim around the pop door! So there will be a lip on the bottom

Any particular reason why you want to install it on the outside? It will be better protected from the elements if installed on the inside. You won't have to worry about it icing over and freezing shut. I've read about that happening with doors installed on the outside. Mine is on the inside and I've never had any problems.

We have the cross beam inside the coop right where it would be installed. i mean we could always move it but.

You can build a frame around the door opening that's as deep as the cross beam, to bring the door to the same level as the beam. Then attach a piece of wood, again with the same depth, above the beam where the mechanism needs to go. That way everything will be on the same plane and the door will be able to go up and down without anything being in the way. I had to do something similar for my door, and it worked out just fine.

It seems like i’m going to have a little bit of trouble using the piece we cut out and making a track for it :/ But i love your saying too, it made me laugh 😂🤣
Yeah you're probably going to need to attach it to a wider piece, if you want to use it due to aesthestics.

The wording above my door is for hubby, it's a reference from his favorite video game and since he's the one that does the nightly check on the flock, he's the one that gets to see it. :)

I’ll probably just knock that support beam out and put it higher and put it on the inside!
