Chicken popped out a small, pink, hard, rubbery thing yesterday. It was about the size of a quarter, maybe smaller. Could this be a lash egg? The vet had never heard of it. How does a hen act when suffering from this? Does their vent pulsate more than normal? Abnormal behavior? Mine has been acting off for about 4 days now. I tried searching here for lash eggs, but I'm not getting the answers I need.

It does sound like a lash egg which is a product of salpingitis, an inflammation and infection of the oviduct. Lash eggs may be laid backwards up into the abdomen while some may make the way down to the vent to be laid. Pictures are welcome of the lash egg, and it is good to cut them open and take pictures as well. Here is a good article about lash eggs and salpingitis:

She is an orpington. I don't have it anymore to take pics because I regrettably gave it to the vet. It looked like a lash egg from the pictures I've seen, but it was super small compared to the pictures I've seen. Does anyone know if they eat and poop normally if they are having this issue? My girl is doing both, just not drinking as much.
