I posted this in the quail forum but I am not getting much help so I'm posting here.

One of my new quail babies is not doing very well. Last saturday we went back to the farm to trade over some of our male quails for more girls. We now have 6 girls and 1 boy. One of the new girls, ( our only white quail) is sick. She is not as active as the others. She has droopy wings and lays down a lot. We have taken her inside and put her in a cage all by herself. She has food and water with applecider mixed in. she does move around but she does not spend much time on her feet. We have been praying but short of that we do not know what else to do for her.

I did not hatch her myself. She is about 3 weeks old I think. I got her last saturday and notice her lack of activity almost immediately that night. She is such a sweet girl and we just want her to get better. She is eating a little but sleeping a lot.

I just checked on here and she is eating a little. I'm not sure if she is drinking because I seen her do it but she could be drinking a little also.
Thank you in advance for any advice you can give.

I don't deal with quails myself, but I do deal with birds in general, so I know a thing or 2 about them. Some birds are just not thrifty from the get go. There may be a hidden defect, weak genetics, or an occult pathogen at work. Who knows? These birds just never seem to thrive like the rest, though. These unthrifty birds often just die no matter what you do for them. There is a name for this general condition- failure to thrive.

I would contact the farm where you got them and ask them what could be wrong. They will likely be your best source of info.

Sorry you are having troubles. Good luck sorting it out. I hope she makes it.

Thank you so much for responding. I will trty to make her as comfotable as possible and hope that she gets stronger.
