I need help with finding out what is happening to my chickens. In the last 2.5 years I've lost 5 to the same thing.
First they get lethargic, then they get pale, then they go blind. Then they die.
There is no mucus problems, no weird food, just pellets and romaine lettuce, and red tomatoes from my organic garden. Sometimes romaine lettuce from the store. They do get scratch a few times a week. Fresh water every day.
They do get to free range our non-chemical back yard about once a week.
Pigeons are able to get in their pen.
I've tried oregano in their food. I've tried Corid treatments. I've de-wormed them.
But about every 3 months one of them will get lethargic and end up dying. They are from 2 to 1 year old.
I'm at a loss.
No spots on combs. And no eye swelling. The pupils are dialated after they go blind. With the red streaks in the brown iris. this happens in both eyes. All times of the year. First one was in August, one just passed on Friday. Pretty sure had one pass last June.
