ok.. so i have a 5 year old RIR hen that is very agressive to me and other chickens...it will peck me and my fingers. I was wondering if i could make her nicer but i dont know how...

would think that since she is 5 years old and is mean then she will just be that way. I heard that rir's are not the friendliest ,

yeah...i can pick her up and she doesnt peck me but if go in to feed them she tries to get me...oh well it doesnt matter that much to me since i have these nice ones...

If she only pecks at you when you go to feed them, maybe you just don't get the food down fast enough for her.... she may also be checking to see if you're hiding the "good" stuff.

Maybe you could distract her by throwing down some scratch as you enter the coop.

You could try holding her down to try to start getting her to initiate a submissive stance when she sees you, but at her age, she is probably pretty set in her ways.

I highly doubt she is being aggressive. Pecking is how chickens explore and figure things out. Do you feed her out of your hand? She probably associates your hand with food. If it irratates you just push her away and walk away from her.
