    hi

    i have a problem

    can someone help?

i have a chick that was a late hatch.

the hen left the nest with all the hatched chicks and left this egg

the chick had pecked a whole in the egg and i could hear him peeping

it was cold outside so i took it in and helped it out of the egg and placed it under heat lamp

chick fluffed up and has been peeping loudly for several hours

chick made it through the night

    now what

i do not know what to do now

how soon should i try to feed and water?
    how do i do this?
    what do i feed it?

    thanks to any who reply

If I were you, I would slip the chick under the mommy after dark tonight. She should take care of it as if her own. Chicks like friends, so it probably would be happier being raised with the others. They generally start picking for food as soon as they get off the nest.

I agree, when momma hen is sleeping, go pick her up and put the new one under. She can't count. [IMG]

Yep, just what they said, I have done it several times. The baby will continue to cheep it need some company. If you are worried about doing that, then steal one of the mamas babies and bring it in and brood it with this one.
