That was a good choice. I have 6 ft tall 1"x2" Welded Wire for our cages and we have not had any problems so far yet with this fencing. So considering the holes of your wire are smaller, you should be fine.Ok I picked up two 48" X 100 ft rolls of 1/2X1" Welded Wire, And I picked up a 150 ft roll of 72" Chicken wire for the top with 1 Inch Holes. Hope this is goo, I know it wasn't cheap.
You really should go with 2" knotted netting. I am sure we have the same amount of snow as you, and occasionally there are times when the snow really weighs down the netting. We did have to run wires through our netting this year for extra support. Without the netting on top, peafowl can kill themselves. It is sad but a breeder that I buy birds from had this happen to one of his breeder Javas not too long ago. It's always best to get these things now to save you from issues later on.I may still go with the netting on top, to cushion then if they fly up, I am not worried about the snow, If I have to go out there to brush it off so be it, I am making the structure plenty strong. The 1/2 X 1 Welded wire that I got seems pretty small I don't see how a weasel can fit though it, I am guessing a Mouse can But I am not concerned with them.
I think I am going to use Hardware cloth for the sides, I am pretty sure weasels can climb, That does make me wonder if they will climb to the top and then down. I do have a Bostich air stapler and I have 1.5 and 2" staples.
I am going to call the guy about the netting today for the top.
Trefoil, I am getting a bunch of different sites for wayside, I am not seeing any hardware cloth, Could you maybe post a link, Thanks.
