I've ended up with 4 roos, I'm sure at some point they'll be dinner, but right now I'm too attached to them so they'll stay. I'm wondering how to build them a home of their own. Dh is done helping, so I need some ideas on how to build something simple for them. I'd love any suggestions you may have!!

Thanks, Sonja

get some leashes for them, like the ones they use to chain up fighting cocks, and chain them up, then give them each a 55 gal plastic barrel with some straw, a pan of water and some food, you should be able to do this eaisly without you DH help.

Hmmm, not really what I had in mind.

I'm thinking more a long the lines of a poultry palace where the boys can hang until their services are needed.

You could get:

*a 5 foot tall by 50 foot wide roll of welded wire fencing at HD ($42)

* 4 five and 1/2 foot T posts ($15 total)

* a 15x15 foot or larger bird net ($20) to tie over the top.

This would make a 12.5 foot square pen that is 5 feet tall. Just hammer the 4 Tposts in the 4 corners and wrap the fence around it. Cover with the net. Could build the pen in less than 1 hour.

Maybe find a large dog house or free crate to put in there for them.

Good luck. Show us how it turns out.

See, now that's more like it. I'm thinking of adding something to the existing coop, and then having the runs butt up against eachother. I can build the run, no problem, it's an additional coop. Thanks for your suggestion!

I could somebody show a picture of the roosters tied up like that? Seems like they could break a leg trying to fly or getting wound up in the line and what kind of line do you use?
