Hi there!,

Im new to byc and raising chicks 🐥! However I need a bit of help with it. I have given them plenty of food and water and a nice warm cozy heat lamp. Even a few perches here and there so they can start learning. (not to high though! Just about 3-5 cms of the ground).

I have read in a lot of places that chicks like lettuce or boiled egg, but my chicks aren’t even interested in it. However I do give them very small mealworms and they are in love with them. Also sometimes my chicks poop is dihareha, (I probably spelt that wrong lol), And other times it isn’t.
They are about 1 week old and are already bonded to me. Is it ok if you could maybe give me some little tips and tricks too?
Thanks!

Hello! Adorable chicks you have there ❤️ Do you mind if I add a question about my new chicks here too? I have one who has poop stuck to their little behind a couple times in the few days I’ve had them. I rinse and gently remove the hard mass from under the tail and am surprised it returned. Have you seen this yet either? I also have black chickens. These are Black Asian Chickens, I’ll attach a pic 🥰 Love yours! Mine like to huddle in the food dish too, what’s up with that?

My chicks are eating Crumble Layer Feed and I add Ultrakibble for them. Do your chicks drink water ok? Do you have commercially available food and what are you using?

They’re so sweet! Huddling in the food dish is completely normal, mine do it too.

Aww there so cute! ☺️! No I have not had this problem yet but from my researching I know That it’s called pasty butt and it can become a problem if you leave it on them.

Seems like it’s not nice. Are your chicks social? How old are they? Mine seem skittish. Have you ever had one fall on his back and cry but not get up themself? I didn’t leave him long so maybe he would’ve gotten up ok, but seemed somewhat alarming. Thoughts?

Yes my chicks drink water all the time. I am using normal chick feed. (I don’t know the proper name for it though). I also give them a little bit of chick grit.
