Hello people. In the future, I want to breed Ameraucana hens to white Leghorn roosters, and am wondering stuff about egg coloring. I know nothing. If the chicks come out laying white eggs, then I will just breed to Ameraucanas again or something. The goal is to (eventually) be breeding these crosses to each other, and not Ameraucanas to Leghorns anymore, but still having blue/green egg coloring. Is this possible? Thanks!

P.S Did I spell Ameraucana right @EmmaRainboe

There is a similar hybrid being sold by one of the hatcheries that is half leghorn and half crested cream legbar. These chickens are touted as being good egg producers of light blue eggs. If your Ameraucana’s are pure bred then I assume you would achieve the same result with your cross.😊

:yesss: I spelled it right!

So, is it like the pigments will mix and doing a faded light blue, or is it some crazy genetic thing I'll have a hard time understanding?
It will just be a lighter blue not really much to it. The white gene is actually more complicated than any of the genetics.
I actually have a brown leghorn, black ameraucana cross. I’m hoping to get a blue layer who lays more eggs.
