Hi this is chickensally. I found this site while trying to find out how far my chicken yard should be from a well used for drinking water. My grandmother raised chickens in the 1930's. We have about thirty chickens that are pretty much free ranging, but are confined to about an acre. I need to build a new henhouse but am not sure how far iti should be from the well. I hope someone knows.

Hello and :welcome

I don't really know much about wells and chickens, but like dawg said I wouldn't think it mattered for your small flock. :)
Don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have, and enjoy the site. :D

Thanks to all of you who welcomed me. I really don't know much about chickens, but some of them are almost tame.I don't have a lot of time to be on line . But I will be checking back from time to time. Chickensally

from New Mexico!

I know from having a septic system installed here, human waste needs to 50 to 100 feet away from your well, depending on the water casing installed in the well. So I would imagine with chicken waste, seeing that most of it stays relatively on the surface, you will be ok with 50 feet from your well. Good luck!
