Need little conformation

Hopefully and i read on review if u hold a chicken from its neck if they bring their feet up their a rooster if they dangle their legs as in the picture its a pullet does sound pretty dumb right?
Yep, it sure does....old 'wives tale'.
By 6 weeks the size and color of combs and/or wattles should tell the tale on the males.

In my town we can not keep roosters. When they start to crow the neighbors will report us. So, crowing is my test. When he crows, he is a rooster, therefore doomed to the crockpot. Roosters that mate but do not crow would have an evolutionary advantage, keep them to determine this if you want fertile eggs. If you just do not want to keep feeding birds who will never lay an egg, watch for mating behavior. Then, cull the males.

Ok, so I know the OP's post has ruffled a few feathers here, with regards to how they handle their chickens. While this is not a way that I, personally, would pick up my own chickens, I would like to kindly remind everyone that chickens are livestock, not pets. And that the OP has every right to handle their chickens as they see fit. Not my business.

Thank u guys for the ones who gives good advice i learn alot from your experience since i am new to the chicken business for the ones who are acting childish you really need something better to do i came to byc to get schooled from experienced folks read my post " little conformation" theres people who sex chickens at 1 month even earlier where im currently at but i dont show them or even ask since everything is sorta a business over here

For us here it is not easy to sex a bird from a couple of photos. Some breeds need to be sexed surgically, such as my African Grey Parrot. Or by DNA. Some chickens are sexed at hatch by their feathers or color, they are bred for this.

Just to comment on the handling, I was at my friends house and picked up a duck by the neck like I normally do any bird, and got the strangest look. Now, I know why!

Pics 6-7 looks sort of like a rooster to me. They are still pretty young to tell, though! No guesses on the others.

Yeah i understand but are birds are baladi chickens aka mutts so its little harder since they have a meaner temper the purebreds we call originals cost 125 dollars per bird and breed expensive right? And idk i find the legs are more fragile then the neck and if holding them by the body streses out more

My bird is an African Grey parrot. Starting price ~$800.00 and up. My vet holds my bird like this. I pay the vet ~ $100/hr. I hold my bird like you do. The bird is fine with this, it is the humans on this site who have a problem with it! The neck is the strongest area on a bird!

No problems here.
