I try to find a name based on the birds personality or physical characteristics..
Mille fleur means thousand flowers. How about Bouquet?
Yoko Ono, an active Japanese person?
I'm a history buff and all my birds are named for the US First Ladies or Presidents.
My Silver Laced Wyandotte is named Ida McKinley because William McKinley's opponent ran on one issue - free silver. McKinley was against silver because it was a debased currency and overseas markets used gold.
I have two SLW named Lotty and Dotty, and I used to have BTW Japanese. I named them Honshu (after the island), Kyushu (after anthor island in Japan) and Ichiban (number one). I like Japanese names, if you look on a map you could name them after Japanese islands like I did. I have a millie I named Bijou (jewel), I gave her a french name because they speak french in Belgium.
Some of the names we've got are...
Henrietta
Bessie,
Rodney,
Blanch, Dorothy, and Rose ( the golden girls)
Pearl,
Ruby,
Zippy,
Whitney,
Dee Dee, &
Opra (my loud mouth)
Most of ours have "old lady" names except for the ones my kids have named.
We have Patty (short for chicken patty), Emily, Tasha, Lola, Pearl, Henrietta and Cinderella....Not the best names out there, but I like them...the kids named most of them .....
I'm expecting my first dozen true Araucanas in about 2 weeks (YAY!!!) and I've only got one name picked out. Since I'm a romance author, I figured that the perfect name for the top roo would be Fabio. Everyone else, I'll just have to wait and see!
