I aam new to ducks. I have 2, 9 month old Cayuga ducks that are currently laying. One of my ducks recently starting having difficulty walking. Her leg points straight back and shakes then comes back down when walking. She seems stiff. Her wings are held tight to her body and she no longer flaps them. She has been loosing weight. She does eat but it sems difficult for her and needs extra water to get things down. She was my quacker but now she no longer quacks. The vet is not sure what's wrong so she put her on some steroids but i dont think it's helping. Does anyone have any ideas? I've googled the symptoms but nothing seems to fit. I'm at a loss. Please help!

She may have egg yolk peritonitis - a systemic infection. Some vets think it's a death sentence, but others successfully treat it with Baytril. Tube feeding may also be necessary at this point.

I would tell the vet you think it could be EYP.

Also, if it's hardware disease, that's another difficult one with similar symptoms. A blood test or x-ray may confirm it. Again, some vets give up, some prescribe chelating supplements, sometimes there is surgery to remove metal found with x-ray.
