I have a first-time nesting BR hen that this first-time turkey owner has successfully moved to a new safe, private nest. She accepted it, whew. Before I moved her a couple eggs got broken because other hens were shoving her off the nest. Now she is on 9 eggs-less than I would like. One of the eggs that got badly cracked I opened in the house to see what was going on inside and it wasn't fertile. The hen who laid that egg is the owner of 4 of the 9 eggs under my broody and I have never witnessed this hen breed with the tom. Broody hen has been sitting for two days. Question: Do I remove eggs under the broody from hen that I haven't seen breed and replace with eggs from a known breeding hen and hope they catch up to the other five eggs, or do I leave well enough alone and hope that the other hen has had her trysts in private and not all of her eggs are not fertile?
