Need quick advice!

Will this be too close for the light? Shouldnt it be around 100 degrees like when you bring home biddies?

This chick probably doesn't have a chance but the other eggs still do.
Is today hatch day?

You are really going to need to watch her to make sure she doesn't do this to all of them.
It might be best to pull them as SOON as they hatch.
Like immediately.
Today is day 20, tomorrow will be hatch day. Now that I know not to take the chick out of the egg regardless of what happens hopefully they will absorb their yolk before momma can get to it.

100 is too hot.
90 is better.

Do you have a thermometer?

If the mom ate the yolk sac this chick is dying right now.

Oh my gosh. Here's hoping that littles chick makes it despite the gloomy outlook, and the hen doesn't continue to eat her offspring.
Is this a first time mom?
Yes she is a new momma, she went broody which i didnt expect and low and behold it worked. She has been really protective up til now hopefully it was just from my mistakes and she will be great with the others. There are still 3 eggs to hatch so fingers crossed!

:fl:fl

Please keep us updated on how she does.

I had a chick that hatched with an unabsorbed yolk and it's all grown now!

What I did was put it under a heat lamp (like you have done), and then put a damp paper towel over the yolk/tummy to keep the yolk from drying out until it was all absorbed.

Since the mom ate the yolk sac, I'm not sure if it will survive. (How big was the yolk when you saw it?)
If the navel area isn't bleeding, I would put a damp paper towel over that area to close up.

I hope your little chick will make it!!!:fl

Looks like it's lost a lot of blood. As long as it's not pooping out it's stomach there's very very small hope, but honestly it's not likely. Keep a close eye on the temp it probably wont have the strength to move out of the heat if it gets too hot.

Give it 24 hours it'll either perk up or it wont. :/
