Need Quick Advice

Hi there again! It all looks nice and so do they. How are they settling in? That’s a nice run for them. I hope all goes well for them. I have a story for you. It’s about 1:00 am here and my chicks are still inside my house but I heard a wild bird outside calling to them. They noticed it also - well two of the more observant of the nine did and we were looking for the bird which I think is a house sparrow that routinely builds on my porch or near it. But I thought that was so strange. It must have heard them good during the day and decided to start locating them during the night too. It really confused my chick that was paying attention. She is super smart and she wanted me to find out who was singing and chirping outside to her and calling for her attention.
Take care and good luck with your two rescues!

They seem to be settling in pretty well. The Australorp is in pretty good shape considering. The sexlink is skin and bones. She has an impacted crop, but it's not beyond hope. She's been isolated. No food yesterday, but her crop was much better today after coconut oil and massaging. Today she has a very thin, soft mash of starter with NutriDrench. I didn't want to continue withholding given her thinness. I think they'll both do alright once they get some good food in them. I'm also going to treat them for worms and mites. One thing at a time, though.

But once we move, it'll be much easier to integrate them with my existing flock (assuming they co tinue to show no sign of dire illness). They'll have about an acre to themselves at our new place and a big ol' coop.

That's really interesting about the sparrow. I've never heard of something like that! I wonder what it's doing. You should keep an eye on that situation and see how it turns out! A mystery....
