Need quick answer please! PROLAPSE

Great information posted already. I'll just add or reaffirm, based on our experience with a Mille Fleur bantam, to:
1). Keep her in the dark 24/7 for at least 2 weeks...longer if possible
2). Feed her low protein food such as millet bird seed mix...not BOSS. This is to discourage laying. I wouldn't use layer feed because you don't want to stimulate laying.
3). Squirt cream Prep H into booty each morning.
4). Add calcium to her diet.
5). Put her on an antibiotic

Our bantam came through it and now has hatched two broods. Good luck!
I have one that's been living in the dark for about a month now and might actually be getting better!

Great, ok...She's not doing as well today. out again, and pretty depressed. yesterday we put the hemoroid cream on the organ itself (to shrink it) and also around the outside. Too much? She is still eating and drinking. Perked up a bit after breakfast. I just am not sure about the bandaging thing. Took all the courage I had to do the pushing it back in.

We have Baytril, I'll get her started n that.

Well she's definitely worse. It looks like her organs are deteriorating as a piece chipped off. She's suffering I'm sure. I brought her inside to keep the flies off her, but she won't allow me to push the prolapse in anymore, she just pushes it right back out. I know this is serious. I Can't make her keep it in, even with a bandage I don't think it would stay where it is supposed to. I doubt I will try this ever again, but does anyone have any other suggesions?

Mine was like that and it's taken *weeks* for her to get better. During that time she has been confined to a somewhat dark room with a little food and water.

Ok. so are you supposed to push it in whenever they push it out? I think that's pretty invasive and stressful for the hen too... or do you just try once or twice a day. She's in the garage asleep right now in a wire dog crate with a cover over it to keep out more light. . So Kathy you know your hen is getting better because the prolapse stays in longer?

It's staying in and she laid an egg.

Last time mine did it I just left her alone for a few days and it went back in on it's own. However, I did tube feed her fluids during that time.

oK, I think that's the way I will do it too. If she lives.

Thank you for the advice everyone so far and congrats on the successes.
We will keep going and hope that she does ok.

My hen stayed prolapsed for almost a week. I kept her clean as possible, used prep h and peeled of necrotic tissue twice. I finally tried the diaper description above and kept it on overnight. It worked! But the issue started a molting and I only get an egg once every couple of weeks.
