I am getting ready to order some pullets for the first time and was told that when they mature they won't lay many eggs without a rooster. I have never saw this while researching and was wondering if this was true. I live in town and I don't think my neighbors would like a cockle-doodle-doo every morning. Please help me!

False.

Just like ladies don't need a husband to get their monthly visits from Aunt Flow.

Indeed, it may be easier for everyone involved if there were no menfolk to irk them during their girl time.....

Hens don't need a rooster and since you live in town unless you are going to be breeding your hens skip the rooster I know I live in town had chickens for a year no problems get a bantam rooster and one of my neighbors call the dog pound to bad I can have a rooster and up to 15 chickens lol on them. good luck and
