Of course, I'm a 26-year-old who still reads the latest Redwall book whenever it comes out. I started reading those in middle school. I just can't resist a good story, and Brian Jacques is great (although I can finish reading one of his books in about three hours).

There's nothing wrong with reading so-called YA lit as an adult. I read as an escape from reality, so I'm pretty much open to anything imaginative and new. Plus, I can recommend good books to my students.

Next on my reading list is the Twilight series.

true... when I was a teacher I tried to stay current on YA lit. Maybe that's why I liked it so much then. Now my life is far different.​

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Dune series yet. The ones by Frank Herbert are good, the ones by his son...eh, well, DH loves 'em. I found the ones by his son kinda twee and boring, but the original series was pretty good.

I found Redwall just a couple of years ago. Loved every minute of it (but you do get hungry reading those darn things!!)

YA has good titles

As for Dune, I like the son's writing better than dad...LOL

Terry Pratchett never did much for me. I stopped reading McCaffery a long time ago, and I don't much like Anthony anymore either....so it looks like we're kinda on the same page, Chickabee. I also stopped reading Merecedes Lackey and Laurell Hamilton.

So what are you reading? I've gotten some ideas here, but can always use more. I recently read Faye Kellerman's newest book, read something by Dana Stavenow recently too. Right now I'm rereading Lynn Flewelling's Oracle's Queen trilogy.

Anyone read Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series? Wow, are those books GOOD!

And yes, reading anything Redwall will leave you wanting heaps of meadowcream, goblets of October ale and enormous troughs full of deeper'n'ever pie...

I love Faye Kellerman, and her husband Jonathan Kellerman. Gooooood authors!!!! I love crime novels, especially with a love thing goin on in them......​

I also couldn't get through Eragon. Boring!!!! For great kid fantasy fiction, not previously mentioned, the Perseus Jackson series by Rick Riordan is wonderful. The Greek myths are real, alive and living in the US. Everyone in my house old enough to read them inhaled and read them as fast as possible....not patiently waiting for the next in the series.

hey mom... wanted to tell you that I started this series and am on book 2. My daughter is reading book one right now and she is hooked too!

I have my youngest reading the first, and have the other three ready for her when she's done. Read all the Perseus Jackson books and really enjoyed them.

She already read "8th Grade Bites" and "9th Grade Slays". I read those, also. Cute books. Can't remember the author, though
