Hello all.

I’m totally new at this!!! I’ve been interested in having guinea fowl for sometime now and just purchased two adults. The seller advised to place them in a dog crate for a while, and feed in the evenings so they recognize home. I’ve propped up walls and roof around the crate but it’s makeshift at best and rather small. I think they probably need something more substantial? Looking for advice to for building a simple Guinea specific coop ASAP

I’m very good at building projects, just not sure what all is necessary for Guineas. I have a nice sized fenced back yard and primarily want these two to walk around freely and hopefully come back to the coop rather than leaving.

The young man I purchased from showed me how to clip wings to keep from flying away.

Thanks!

Best have them penned up for 6-8 weeks so they know where home is. Best make a large coop with a run so they have a good view of your property. Make sure they have plenty of room as not having enough room can instigate fights between the hens. Heard them into their coop every night to train them to go back into their coop as opposed to roosting up in a tree.

My guineas sleep in an evergreen tree beside my chicken coop and free range through the fields during the day, however we have no predators that are capable of getting high up in the trees to get at them where I am.
