Need some Advice about Roosters!!

Mine crowed non stop from sun up to sun down. My hubby got tired of hearing him and would go out there and tell them to be quiet and if they didn't then he would give them something to eat to keep them quiet. Well all of this worked until the roos figured if they crowed they get treats. Anytime you went outside they would crow at you or make a loud growl/crow kind of noise until you gave them something.

So what I am trying to say don't bribe them it only makes it worse.

Talk to your neighbors and make sure they are ok with it and if they are then the crowing just becomes another noise. Like if you live next to railroad tracks, the train just fits in.

The first week or so that mine learned to crow, he was doing it through-out the day. He's about 18wks old now, and crows when I let them out of the coop, when I let them out to range, and if I throw treats out he'll crow to tell the others to come join him. Sometimes I hear him crowing if the flock starts separating and he can't see them all. Otherwise, he's pretty quiet. He's a lovely BA, and those bright red wattles against that solid black body is just beautiful!

We got a new roo about a month ago and that is all he does too! He starts as soon as we turn on the bathroom light and he continues all morning at 12 second intervals.!!! When I leave at 10 til 8am for work, he is still a crowing..

Dh loves it......I get annoyed but figured it is his purpose! So i deal with it....my neighbors..not so sure.....I started dodging them when HOSS showed up and I heard the 12 second interval crowing going on.....

i have two roos and all they do is crow all day from the first light of dawn until they are tucked in for the night lol.. they also coo and purr to the hens.. think of it as a peaceful, natural thing and enjoy the sounds of summer.. they are great at protecting your hens and sharing food and coddling them....you will get used to it.. just takes a little bit of time.. gl with your babies

Just wondering how many of us with roosters don't really hear the crowing any more, in other words just are used to it?
We have people come over and ask "do they do that all day and night"? and we usually respond, "do who, do what"?
I love the sound of a rooster, especially when they are just starting to find their voice.

My salmon favorolle doesnt crow he is very quiet and sweet and gets beat up alot He is very beautiful.

I figured out that my roosters crow if our dogs are around, or is something "isn't right" in their coop. I actually don't think their noise is that offensive. I was so scared to get chickens because of the noise, but it's actually not nearly as bad as I thought it would be!

I love how they pose right before they're about to crow, too!

One older rooster I brought home crowed A LOT starting EARLY in the morning. All the other roos would look at him and kind of shake their heads....(okay, my hand raised roosters would only crow quietly until 9:30 in the morning unless they knew I was up! Then they would let loose a time or two, and throughout the day they crowed at particular times or if they wanted to check on the flock.) The one that crowed A LOT quieted down after about 2 weeks. Now, he doesn't crow much at all. Give it some time.
