Need some advice on a lone duckling

Yes, I have seen this happen; if one has to introduce younger, smaller birds with larger ones, it is a good idea to have a bunch of them go in with the older ones, if at all, because then the older ones will not focus their bullying on just one. If you have only one, it could be bad.

Thanks for the offer! I was talking about the situation with a friend of mine today and found out that a friend of theirs just hatched some Pekins yesterday and I was able to go pick one up.

In reply to veronicasmom, my friend does not have the facilities to take care of ducks once they are out of the brooder. I live only a couple of houses away and I am already set up for ducks. Her oldest has been dealing with some issues lately and she thought the ducks would help his mood. He has been asking for them since TSC got them in. He will be able to come by my house and see them once they are grown since they have a forever home with me. I don't think it is wrong to allow a child the joy of watching a duckling grow up as long as it will be taken care of when it is grown.

gvntofly05, I think you have done a great thing for your friends, as well as the lonely duckling. I think we should all applaud you for going to such lengths to make sure the little guy is safe and happy.

I've gotten a lone gosling, but I did this on purpose, with full intent on keeping him/her when grown. Only thing is, he/she sure can peep a lot!! LOL! I've got a grown Pekin duck, so hopefully, they will get along some day, when this little fuzzy butt gets older. My great niece, who is a year older than my youngest has named him/her Snips! Because he/she loves to "snip" you hair!! Cute! Enjoy your ducklings, they are great!!!
