Need some advice on a toddler who is a picky eater.

My sister had a problem like that with her son and he had an Adnoid/tonsil issue. They were removed and he ate good. That was 20 years ago so I don't remover details....

He use to eat a bunch of types of foods with no noticeable problems. Some stuff will cause bowel problems. After eating that french toast a couple days ago he had bad diarrhea that night which caused him to stay up late and then had it all the next day and ended up with a horrible diaper rash. That was the only new thing he ate that day. I have no clue if it was the french toast or not. He has had the store ones before but they don't have much egg on those. Other baked goods with eggs in them don't seem to bother him.

I'll write down some questions to ask the doctor when I take him in on the 20th. She may have some input. He did have acid reflux really bad as a baby which went away around 8 months. He was projectile vomiting from the acid. The doctor instead of saying colic like some do she did an ultrasound with me feeding him to make sure the stomach closed like it should and then gave me some medicine for the acid to make him more comfortable.

I do have a lot of allergies myself so I'm always cautious when trying new foods with him if it is something that he might be allergic to. Luckily he doesn't have any peanut problems. My MIL is allergic to strawberries but he is able to eat them just fine.

It is hard to say what the problem is if it is just a phase or a possible medical or mental problem.

My nephew was/is a very picky eater. Turns out he problems with the textures of foods. My sister had him evaluated for his speech problems and it was all related to this texture thing. A county therapist came to their house twice a week to work with him and everything got better, but he still is a very picky eater. One of the first questions the therapist asked was are there picky eaters in your family? Our older sis was a very picky eater, turns out this is somewhat hereditary..

That has me wondering now cause he was tongue tied which his doctor held off clipping till last August. He talked some at 3 months old but then quit and became a late talker. He still is having problems with pronouncing words. I was a picky eater and had speech problems and was in a speech class in 1st grade. I still have some problems now but I do have a bad overbite so I have problems with "th" words.

I was in speech therapy in first grade also. My problem was "L" as in "I Love Gois" for "I Love Lois". I don't think my older sister had any speech problems, but she says she still has texture problems with food sometimes.

One of the things my nephew wouldn't eat was pudding. My sister thought "My gosh, what kid won't eat pudding" and mentioned it when they were checking out his speech issues. They started with playing with chocolate on his high chair tray, just dumped it out and played in it with little plastic cars, then progressed to swishing it back and forth through his teeth to liquefy it so he would eat it. They also had him playing in white glue, glueing sunflour seeds to a paper plate was a huge breakthrough! He is 15 now and 6' 4" tall and running the mile in track. So pretty healthy, but still really picky about food. He goes through 2 boxes of LIFE cereal a week, all by himself.
