I have a 4 month pea hen that I rescued when she was only 3-4 days old. It's been an interesting and very rewarding journey with her so far. I have a couple concerns. The biggest concern at this time is that she wants to lay down all the time. This began about a week ago after her wing feathers outgrew her tiny body.

Is this normal? Should I be doing anything to make her more active?

Thank you for any help or advice given.

Cocci is the number one problem with peachicks. If your chick is ruffled up with the head drawn back and hunched up it is the normal signs of cocci. Gamebirds including peafowl respond to sulfadimethoxine better than amprolium.

Peachick is alive. Shaky on legs when standing and unable to keep wings back unless of course food is present. I have just ended the first stage of treatment for cocci and the peachick was wormed a month ago.

She won't eat unless I do the airplane thing with the food on my finger. I am at a loss.

She still looks a bit off, I would continue with the cocci treatment for at least a full week total time and if you can get some fish-zole from the pet store I would give her an eighth to a small quarter of a tablet for four days. What method of worming did you use?
