Sooo, I’ve got a incubator that has always worked well for me, I’ve got a few duck eggs in there currently on day 12.

I had a guy come buy to purchase some turkey eggs from me and mentioned that I should try geese, that he loves then! I thought hmmm, I have always wanted a few... He was nice enough to offer me 8 fertile eggs from his geese and of course I couldn’t say no!

So here’s the problem, I’ve only got one incubator and I currently have duck eggs in there. But I thought, hey I guess I can just add them in there even though they won’t all hatch at the same time. I know it’s not ideal, but it is what it is. But guess what, the goose eggs don’t even fit in the automatic turner I have in there!

I’m at a loss, should I just take out the turner and start hand turning them? I just really worry I’ll forget to turn them, or something! Plus the turner I have now kind of keeps them in a somewhat vertical position. If I take that out and put them in their side, do you think that change could kill them?

Any advice is appreciated, I know that I’ve got myself in a tough spot, I should have not acted on impulse, but it’s too late now I suppose!

It won't hurt them to be on their side after being vertical. If you hand turn them mark them on both sides I use N for night D for Day, I write myself notes to remember to turn eggs every day. Also you will have different days for lockdown, and will have to stop turning some and not others. OR I will tell you that this will not be popular but just put the Goose eggs in after your duck eggs hatch. I know they will be older but they could still have a chance.

Yah, I wish I could just put them in after the duck eggs hatch, but they still have ways to go. So I don’t think they’d be very likely to make it.

I don't know about geese but I've put in 2 or more week old turkeys and they still hatch. I personally wouldn't want 8 geese running around lol so if just a few made it it would still be good. They sell cheap incubators but they won't last long and aren't that predictable. Do you know anyone you could borrow an incubator from for a month?

Unfortunately no, I’m really the only person I know that hatches.

That’s another thing I considered, I thought about maybe getting another cheaper incubator, but I’m pretty sure my husband would kill me! :lau

I just took out the turner, and put all the eggs in since that seems like the best option as of now :fl

I set alarms on my phone to remind me to turn my chicken eggs. I mark mine with L-M-R (left, middle, right), and I turned them at 7am, noon, 5 pm and 10pm. I also turned in one direction one day and the other direction the next
