Wow, nice setup. I definitely don't have that much cardboard, but that's a pretty good idea that I'll keep in mind. That hay or shavings or whatever they're in looks nice too. I need some of that.

My brooder is a clear 30 gallon tote with a hardware cloth lid
But the shavings in it are pine and its sold in air sealed bags at the feed store and its very cost effective, Smells fresh and very absorbent

This neighborhood lady duck heard the baby chirping and got real interested, so I let her in and offered a snack, and they kinda bonded over food for a few minutes.. it's a start?

Hopefully it's the start of a sweet friendship. One of my Muscovy females decided to adopt my other 2 females ducklings so there is always a chance she'll take to this little one.
