Need some advice

I have 5 guinea keets that I hatched 2 weeks ago. I have them inside a cat carrier that has been modified into a brooder for them. My 7 year old grandson has been told hands off because they're so skittish but this morning when I was out taking care of the chickens, he opened the door and one of the guineas got scared and jumped onto the floor, a 4 foot drop.

Of course my grandson didn't tell me. He just picked the keet up and put it back in the brooder. I noticed one was limping and then realized a little while later, his leg is cocked at a weird angle. I think his leg might be broken at the joint.

My husband and I are so angry at our grandson right now. He just got a stern talking to and got sent to bed. He admitted what happened.

Can I save this little one or should I cull him? Thanks in advance.

Could you post pictures of the leg? Does the the leg look dislocated?
Or is the bone broken?

Depending on what the injury is, it could be a splint or a cull.

I just reread your post, it appears your keet has pulled tendon. Sorry, but you will most likely have to cull him. Even if you can relocate the leg as the keet grows, its weight will aggravate the injury and its quality of life will be poor and may only live a few months.

It is worth splinting I think. I had a small chick break its leg, I put a splint on it and seperated it with one other for company. @ aweek or so you could not tell it had been broke at all.

After watching the way he was walking and really looking at him closely, his foot and leg were twisted at a really ugly angle. I decided to cull him. It was the hardest thing to do because I've never killed anything in my life. I cried my eyes out and then used baking soda and vinegar to cull him.

I know living on a micro farm, its something I have to do but its definitely not something I'll ever get used to.

It makes CO2, carbon dioxide. CO2 displaces oxgen, the keet would of smothered slowly. It would not of been a quick kill.
