need some advise--egg bound ??

you know---some times we read , and see , but somehow seem not to absorb whats in front of us .....

.... buttercup one of my wifes favorite hens--- a buff orpington about 9 months old , has been sitting on her nest for about 3 hours-

--if she is egg bound , what should i do---how long should i wait---what ?----i should have retained the info from all the posts---i'll know better next time---but for right now---what to do...

sounds a little broody maybe? if not and she is egg bound a warm bath then lub up her vent with olive oil, repeat baths several times if necessary
 
sounds broody to me too, does she have an egg under her? one of my Brahmas went broody and didn't even have an egg under her yet, now she has 3 , see how she is in the morning, then take her out of the nest box and look at her vent if she is swollen and pulsating then you might have a problem. but I believe you have a broody. Congrats.

..yeeeeees...i went to utube , they had some buff orps that were broody...buttercup is acting the exact same way , and with her tail up and spread and growling very litely--

...- she is broody and she does have 4 eggs from her coop-mates under her ,tomorrow i am going to build a broody coop and get a few fertlized eggs from some one local---i hope--- and let nature take it's course---it would be awsome for me to have baby chicks running arround---

...early this morning i went to let the girls out-----buttercup was off her nest--i went to check the egg box---she ran back and got back on the nest---she got sorta all puffed up , spread her tail and growled at me----i spread some of the birdseed & cracked corn treat mixture in the coop for her , i'll get some water for her in a few minutes--- when i left the coop--buffy her sister {inseparable

That is so cool - I love reading these posts and learning from them - egg bound or broody? A few weeks ago I wouldn't have even known what broody was! Good luck with her and the fertile eggs you find for her! Def. would love to see pictures when/if you are successful with her
