I've been all over here posting about my son's science project hatching eggs. We're done now and have one lonely little chick. He/she is peeping it's little head off because it's lonely. I need to buy 2 (hens, I hope) to keep the little chick company. I can't seem to find any now. Anyone know someone in eastern NC/Southern VA that would sell me 2 day olds? This whole thing has been a mess. I've been looking on Craigslist and don't really see anything and I don't want to buy a bunch because I can't keep them.

Check Tractor Supply Company tomorrow. I think that's when their chick days start.

In the meantime - a stuffed animal, a clean feather duster and/or a small hand mirror may help the chick feel not so lonely.

Good luck.

Not sure where you are in NC but Sumner Byrd Farm in Holly Springs sells chicks. I go to pick up 4 Buff Orpington chicks from them the 19th. Hope this helps. Not sure what all breed they have either. They do have a website. Just google the farm name and it comes right up. Hope this helps.

They don't have anything listed on their website right now. I've looked. I've looked all over Craigslist and here. One lady has some a few days older than mine but unfortunately I can't go today because she won't be home until after 6:00 and she's an 1 1/2 hours away from me. I have things I have to do tonight. Maybe I can work it out for tomorrow night. I'm so frustrated.

Oh, and I went to Tractor Supply and they have nothing yet. Not even set up for anything yet.

That's some great advise. Never thought of the feather duster or mirror. Hoping more than one of mine hatch.

Don't I wish! With my luck, this little one is a rooster and I will eventually have to give it away.

He/she is snuggled up to a toy dinasour but I don't pretend that it's the same. It is OK for now I guess.
