Need some cute silkie names!!

I cant think of names for you but have a question. How were you able to tell the difference between rooster and hen? We have 9 silkies of various color and are unable to tell what we have. Thank you!

That is easy! roosters will watch every sports game!

OK seriously though, you can tell by looking at there combs, roosters have rather visible combs compared to hens which have most of there comb covered, also roosters crow.

Is this true on a silkie though? I don't see combs on a silkie? At 4 weeks I haven't heard a crow yet? So has been difficult to tell the difference. I'm sure out of 9 silkies we must have a few Roos :)

Well maybe you are lucky! (or like I would say UNLUCKY) but I think it takes a while to tell the difference. I only grew two silkie chicks from day 1 in my life (but to this day they are still my favorite) and one was a rooster, but I do not remember how much time it took to tell the difference. But Silkies DO have combs! they look like walnuts hence the name walnut combs!

Cheers!

Silkies are hard to sex until they are about 3-4 months old. I always wait to name them, I've been fooled too many times! There are some awesome names to be found on the Pictures and Stories section of the forum.
