Hello all I have had my guys out of their little eggs now since Thursday and they are already getting big. They have access to one of those heater plate things and they are already using it considerably less than I thought they should be.

Well I wanted to thaw and float some cut of peas in the bath water for them tonight and I have read mixed reviews on if I could give them to ducklings this young or not. I really want to start exposing them to greens and what not early I even saw dandelions in my yard today and almost grabbed them but I don't want to feed them anything that might hurt them if it is too soon.

Here are the 7 in my new bigger brooder that I set up for them last night.

You could purée the peas with a little water in a blender or processor. I did that with my baby ducks and they loved that!

If you take them outside as suggested and you have sandy soil or tiny rocks in your yard, they will pick up the grit they need. I think exposing them to different types of foods early is a good thing. Just try introducing one new thing at a time and let them get used to it.

Sadly it is raining today so they are going to have to go diving for peas in a pool inside. I am hoping it gets warmer and dryer this week so I can take them outside for a bit. They are really little characters already. I got to watch them zoom around the 4x4 brooder I made having a blast. :D

I’ve never thawed or cut up peas, or anything else actually. I just make sure they have grit. The water my ducklings bathed in was room temp or slightly warmer so the peas thawed pretty quickly. Yesterday I fed everyone frozen cranberries and they loved it.
