Need some hatching buddies - Hatching May 24-28

Well I still have three eggs that are in there that were add a week or so later but I am going to be cleaning it later in the morning with some bleach water and removing the paper towels that are on the bottom. Mine is a home made one so I think I might have a little bit of a easy clean up the way I have done thinks, but thanks for the head up.

Got my first hatched chick. Thought I'd post a picture. I can hear more chirping.

What a beautiful color! What is that?

It is a White Marans. I have only seen a few of them and the only way I could afford some was to incubate. So this is my first time at incubating.

Really? 27 days?? That says something about temps doesn't it? I have one bator that runs warmer than the other, and those always start pipping sooner. Interesting. I'll have to remember that if I have some in and we lose power again like we did once..but, it was only for about 10 min.

fife..I also use the bleach water. I soak my hova with watered down bleach water with a spray bottle. Let them sit just a couple of mins. then rinse with real hot water, then with real cold water. Don't want any bleachy smell in there.

Man Stevenson, only 1 Delaware out of 24? I like how you kept track of the shipping days. Seeing a pattern here?? I ordered some eggs last week! Thought they would make it here hopefully by Fri. that would make it a two day...didn't show..didn't show yesterday! That would have been 3 days..but now, hopefully they will get here by tomorrow..that will make 5 days! These are my tiny little ML d'Uccle's. I wanted to try some. They are from Michigan..heard they experienced some of the bad weather, but I got some others that went out the day before the tornado hit in Al. and they made it in the two days. Crossing fingers I get some to hatch from that small order.

Our weather has been crappy this spring here in Michigan...however...I'll take the rain and cold over the tornadoes that have destroyed so many areas in the South. Really sad.
Can't believe it took 5 days! I have eggs shipping out tomorrow from Ohio and Tuesday from Michigan. I figured I should get both by Wednesday . We will see!

Well...things aren't going so well for the Delaware chick. It is looking really really weak now. I don't expect it to last much longer. I did give it some sugar water (something I have read about) but it isn't interesting in drinking....so I guess it's just a waiting game now

PHarris...cute chickie.
Stevenson...I'm sorry about the Delaware. Hope we have good hatches without having to assist any chick in the May hatch. I really stressed when the blood started flooding out as I assisted my Orpington chick. I don't think I will try to help again even though mine had a happy ending. (I'm still not sure it wouldn't have done ok without my interference)

I have already set more eggs, I have my incubator set so that it is a easy clean and I already have some eggs in there that are to hatch May 9. There are just three but one of them is a double yolk egg. The ones that I set today will hatch on May the 22. After that I will be done till I can get some of the eggs that I want. I will not use shipped eggs for I have heard to many bad things and I don't have the money to waste on eggs that have a low hatch rate.
We have a auction that is close that sells just about anything one Saturdays so I can go there and try to fine my EE eggs.
BTW: picture of fuzzybutts will be on my blog shortly.
