update...
well this is his 3rd day on amoxi drops.. his chest seams to be breaking up very well.. now he sounds like loose mucus part of the cold. the vicks is working great it helps him imediatly.. he is able to breath out of his nose now. thats a good thing.. and he is eating and drinking well.. I have him out in a pen in the front yard to get some sun and fresh air. No other chicks around..

I tell ya, I didn't realize how much work a 12 week old Roo did.. since he has been in the house. the girls act like its spring break, " "Hens gone Wild" no one stays together as a group.. they don't want to go to bed at their reg time.. theres been some little squabbles.. I tell ya what.. He's DA MAN" out there.. got to get him feeling better I just hope I can handle 2 weeks of the girls on Holiday.... hahah..

Are you nto treating all the birds? Im not sure if I read that or not. If it is URI....They all likey have it and are nto showing signs, I would treat the whole flock he was housed with. Thats the advice that was given to me by my state vet. But then again....I later chose to cull my whole flock.

)O(I boughgt the med today for the floks water. where would he catch anything? we have chickens next door but not close and they have never been around the neighbors birds?

Resp Infections can travel miles thru the air!!! You could also have picked it up or someoen could have brought it over. Do you ever let anyone handle pr come near your birds? Do you ever go near anyones birds but your own? Micro plasma can even travel in your hair for 3 days!!!

no one has been here but I went and picked up 3 chicks from a breeder who has hundreds of poultry... I must have brought it home .. Ive got antibiotics in everybodies water.. notices another one with a cough and a little chick snuffed up having ahard time breathing.. gonna put vicks on her.. they are all eating and drinking.. I jsut got to get them better.. I cant cull them all and start over I had planned on keeping these guys so I have let myself get attatched.
do ya'll advise me to keep the bleach water added to their drinking water after th week of anitboitic water? so maintain?

would it help to put my birds on med starter for a while.. they never were on it..? will that and the med water help them all get over it sooner?

WHAT they have is likely permanent. Symptoms may go away but they will always be infected. And yes, You prob brought it home. I have never heard of bleach water before. Medicated chick starter is only for Cocci. It will not in any way help for a URI. I used Tylan on my flock but again.....I culled the whole flock. Attached or not, You will now always have sick birds and every bird you ever introduce will be sick. Every egg you hatch will be a carrier. If I were you, I would saccrafice a couple birds to the state vet and have them perform a necropsy to find out whats really wrong with your birds. Otherwise you have no clue what you are treating. Did you quarintine the new birds you brought home for 2-3 weeks? Its a hard choice I know. But I could nto keep my flock (I had 14) knowing I could never have healthy birds and every bird I ever got after the fact would get sick and thats just not fair.
