Hello, It has been a while since I have posted and I am seeking advice. I am asking if anyone has successfully raised a drake and female together. (yes, I only have the two of them. No, I cannot get anymore. I know I'm possibly looking at rehoming because of this šŸ˜”) I was really praying for two females but the universe had other plans. I've heard horror stories about what drakes do to females once they are old enough but would hate to get rid of him as they are bonded. She doesn't go anywhere without him, without protest and he doesn't like to leave her side either. They are roughly 3 months old.
I feel defeated. But I do not want to give up hope quite yet without the wonderful advice of the fellow byc members I have called on prior.
If I need to rehome to get them into a bigger group of their own kind so that nothing bad happens, I am saddened but would not be hesitant because I want nothing but the best for them. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Thank you! Posted a picture of my beautiful babies as well. Salt and pepper. Pepper is a grey/blue swedish born April 3. Salt is a Pekin (big boy) born late March.

they should be fine together! i personally know at least 10 people who have just a pair and it works out perfect. i have my older two drakes kept with each other, and my 1.5 year old drake is with my two girls and i’ve never had an issue with him hurting them
🄲 ahhhh. That gives me some hope ā£ and I'm so glad to hear that! Thank you for your reply

I've heard of pairs before too, they'll probably be fine but definitely keep an eye on em.
I definitely will. I haven't noticed any mating behavior yet, but we've positively determined he is a drake. So it will come eventually.
