I know the basics. They hatch. They dry off. They learn to eat, to drink. They grow. They eat. They lose their down feathers. They eat some more. Grow new feathers. They eat more. They grow. They lose more feathers. They eat more. They grow new feathers. They eat more. They grow more. Now when their body reaches its right size the sexual organs turn on. Ta da! A mature chicken. That is the maturation of the majority of the chicks into chickens as I understand the basics. If you want more details, there are books with them in. Not trying to short change you. I'm sure there is a lot of knowledge here on BYC. But if you took all the knowledge given here and sorted through it you would find conflicts in the facts beyond the basics. You would have to fact check just about every thing for your project. There are many universities with web sites you could go try several of those to look for information. Did I mention there are books. I really hope you find what your looking for. I love science.
