It expands when it comes out and adheres to the shape of the crack. How big are the gaps? I did some pretty large ones with the foam on this coop I made out of pallets.
If it's that small, you should be fine! Overkill predator proofing is an oxymoron, unless you're using laser sensors and nuclear bombsIt's 1/4in or less, small for all other purposes, but too wide for sawdust, lol. It might be a bit over kill but I also have hardware cloth under the floor slats.
OhI think a tarp would be destroyed in short order
Is there a particular reason you’re using sawdust? That seems rather messy and well.. Dusty. Im not sure how healthy it is for your chickens to breathing in all those wood dust particulates in an enclosed area like that on a regular basis. They’re pretty messy animals as it is so they definely do not need any help with that! I would think pine shavings or the like would work better and be less likely to fall through the cracks. Good luck!
It would most likely work. And only costs 5 bucks. I have used it to fill the gaps between the boards in pallets, which are also 1/2 inch thick I believe. I made a wall out of pallets and wanted to make the bottom half draft free. The spray foam worked like a charm. If too much comes out, which is kinda common, wait for it to dry and just shave flush to the floor with an exacto knife or box cutter. Since it is under litter and doesn't need to be pretty prob wont be an issue. Hope this helps! They're pretty small, but the boards are only 1/2 in thick. do you think that would be okay?
Would it help to lay a sheet of plywood over the existing floor?
Thanks! That sounds easy, I'll look into it!It would most likely work. And only costs 5 bucks. I have used it to fill the gaps between the boards in pallets, which are also 1/2 inch thick I believe.
