Need something to line coop floor....

So my coop floor has some gaps in it, and the pine pellet saw dust falls through. This probably wouldn't be as big of a deal if the chooks didn't scratch at it so much. There's usually a bunch of saw dust underneath my coop in the morning D:

Do you have guys any recommendations as to what I can line the bottom with?

Thanks in advance!
How about a thick layer of straw, then the shavings on top? If you aren't worried about a predator coming through the gaps.

I have hardware cloth under the floorboards to keep the predators out!The gaps are pretty small... but I’m using expanded pine pellets which are kind of like a coarser saw dust, so it falls through the gaps. I’m going to make a trip to the flooring store on Monday to grab some linoleum to line the bottom!

I could never use foam anything around my girls. They eat it and will go for it as a preferred food. It can't be good for them, so I have had to stop working with it where they can get to it. The upper level of my coop is floored with a sheet of vinyl, and it works very well. The lower level is deep litter, so they can move up and down throughout the day, plus the pop door to the run is open all day, with alfalfa spread over the ground, so they can peck and dust bathe. It has all worked well together. Good Luck!

We use horse stall mats in both the chicken coop and inside our potbelly pig house because they are a solid 1/2" thick and easily able to be pressure washed whenever needed. They are expensive but last many years and hold up to claws and hoves very, very well.

Spray foam is poisonous ☠. Better not use that stuff. Epoxy is poisonous too.

Vinyl is a little poisonous too (if new) by the way.

I would use Marmoleum or triplex/plywood.
Have the foam in my guinea coop with no issue. It is rock hard when dry. Not poisonous unless ingested in large amount. It would be a quick fix to the OPs original problem. Thanks for all the sad faces though.

I lined my floor with peel and stick linoleum then pine shavings on top of that. Easy to clean!

We lined our floor with FRP it’s usually used for bathroom or commercial kitchen walls because it cleans so easily ......comes same size as sheet rock .

There is also a double sided tape designed to stick down sheet vinyl on the perimeter and then radials from the center out. It's super easy to use. Just apply the tape on the subsurface, after you've made sure it's super clean and dust free, then roll out the vinyl and press it down. One tip is to dry fit the vinyl and cut to size first. This is the same method used to sheet vinyl a room in your house. Home Depot also has what is called "pre-cut remnants" of sheet vinyl. 6x9. I don't remember the exact price (maybe $20), but I've bought it to roll out onto my carpet under a puppy playpen for easy housebreaking clean up. Some of it is really ugly and some is nice wood plank flooring look, but your girls won't care right? LOL
