Need splint instructions?

Is it a newborn chick?

If not, what age and what type of chicken?

If you can post a pic that would be helpful.

It hatched yesterday morning, it's a Call duck.

One of byc friends @minihorse927 has splinted successfully. She also raises ducks. I'll see if maybe she can instruct you.

My last hatch had what I thought was a spraddle leg chick. For bedding, I had newspaper. I switched it out to shredded newspaper. The chick is fine now

May want to try switching the bedding. Good luck & keep us posted.

Is the leg deformed at the joint or is it just sliding? If you pick it up you should be able to tell. If it's just sliding it should be straight when hanging. If it's stuck out to one side when hanging then it's most likely at the hock.

I think sliding mostly. It doesn't look messed up it just won't stay under him.
