Need tips on controlling humidity

I have a still air incubator it has two plugs in it I tried a sponge but the humidity got too high then I tried a pill bottle full of water with the plugs in that got it too high and them out got too low any tips on controlling the humidity would be appreciated

Humidity is controlled by increasing or decreasing the surface area of the water in the incubator. What percent humidity are you shooting for?

To lower the humidity, you would put in a container that has a smaller surface area of water than what was in there before. So that might mean if the sponge was too much, you could try a folded up paper towel that is folded smaller than the sponge instead. Or if the pill bottle is too much, you could try a container with a smaller opening that the pill bottle.

The amount of water in the incubator doesn't really matter, it's all down to the surface area.
