Hello, people of the poultry world! I show a majority of my birds and I have a few champions in my flock. This year I am looking to step up my game a little. I am looking for others who show their birds, and I am looking for tips on having the perfect show bird. What is your routine for prepping your birds? Do you use any spares, gels, or products to make your birds shinier?

I mainly show buff Orpingtons, but I have picked up a few other chickens that I don't breed. I have a barred rock hen, partridge wyandotte bantam, and some call ducks that my sister gave me. On the side, I breed Svart Honas and show them, but not as much as my buffs. I also show pheasants. My male pheasant won grand champion of the miscellaneous birds at the McLean county fair a few years ago, then won champion last year.
