Need tips on showing poultry

Hello! I have been showing buff Orpingtons for a few years now, and I have been doing pretty good. I have two champions and several who have placed 1st multiple times. Anyway, I was wondering how I could up my game. Usually, I just-just my birds a bath and trim their toenails and beaks. What other things can I do to have some grand champions?

P.s I also raise pheasants and they have won grand champion and champion for the last few years, but I don't prep them at all for the show.

One thing you can do is seperate them in single cages a couple months before the show to keep them as clean as possible and keep feathers and combs looking good. You can also feed a better feed, if you aren't already.
Seeing as you already have a good routine for preshow, you should be looking at the growout side of it. What could you do better for the future of your flock?
