Need to buy a quality coop!

I just built this for my new flock, I have a little over $200 in the coop. It’s not perfect, but it wasn’t too hard to build. It’s 4x5, I think it will hold 6 birds. I’m hoping the roll away nest boxes will work! Good luck!

I really like the large snap lock coop, purchased from Tractor Supply, but can be found other places too. It houses my five hens well and was very easy to assemble. Also easy to clean and secure against predators.

This one is for sale and 6x3.5 feet with four nesting boxes. Seems small for 4 boxes.
how does this look for 6 chickens? Looks like each chicken would have 3.5 sq ft.
That looks good. I would buy it. You can always expand it later and as long as they have access to the outside the size is fine. They only sleep and lay eggs in there anyway. The concern comes when they have to stay locked up in there due to storms.

Good day all!

Can anyone recommend a website where I can buy a quality coop for 6 hens? Carolina Coops are too expensive and I don’t want to buy from Amazon or Wayfair. Any thoughts? I may build one over the summer but first need to buy something of quality.

We have been super happy with our Urban Coop from Roost&Root.com. They make excellent, sturdy coops that keep your chickens safe and comfortable. We bought the Round-top Mobile coop because we live on a city lot and didn't want to have problems with the city government (we are technically allowed 3 "outdoor pets"... which in our case happen to be chickens!), so we choose stealthy. Three years later and we have still have an excellent, well-designed, functional, safe coop for our girls. They are free range during the day, but snuggle up quite nicely in their chicken tractor at night. Bonuses include a poop free feeder and poop-free waterer. We live in Chicago, so the winters get cold and the summers are hot; the design of the coop keeps them comfortable in either extreme.

It would probably be just as well to find a Handyman to build it. The ones I have seen are very expensive not to mention shipping, and the materials look cheap. My brother built mine and it was less than any and better wood.
