Actually, they can survive if given a deeper bowl to eat from. I had a Sultan with severe crossbeak who did very well, he just had to dip his beak into the food farther to scoop more up.

An easy way to cull a small chick is to place equal parts baking soda and vinegar in a coffee can, place the chick inside, and place a lid on for several minutes. It is difficult on anyone to cull a chick, but this method is painless, and the chick dies of carbon dioxide poisoning in a couple of minutes.

I second this method. If you pour the baking soda and vinegar slowly at first, it will put chick to sleep. Then you pour in rest.

I have two silkie chicks that have been sick for a month. I think they are not going to get better
