Need to figure out nesting boxes

Our chickens are going to start laying soon’ish and I need to sort out the nesting situation. The roost is on the left and nest box section is on the right. There are no boxes or trays in their at the moment (just ABM pellets)

I want to make the process of getting the eggs efficient. One thought process is just throw in a few bowls for them to use. The other is to do roll away egg boxes (I like this idea but need to figure out the best way to do it.

Any thoughts on what would work best? Suggestions.

Thanks

Correct. The “lid” opens from the outside. There are currently 17 hens.

I got this from @aart , it works great and is free! Fold up your empty feed bag and put it in the bottom of your nest box, top with whatever material you choose (I use hay), if you end up with a mess pick the whole thing up and chuck it, you're left with a clean fresh slate

I used to use the fancy-shmancy excelsior nesting pads. LOVED them! Then I got ducks who like to eat them. I now use the reusable kind and throw in some straw or pine shavings. I shake them off when I collect eggs 2x daily (in the morning for the duck eggs, in the evening for the chicken eggs). Keeps my eggies pretty clean. I also like the idea of roll-away boxes. But I am thinking that NOTHING will keep them clean if there are muddy duckies using them.

Nope, that's @rosemarythyme .
I use pieces of vinyl flooring cut to fit tight.
