I just needed a space where I could talk about how discouraging raising chickens has been for me. I have never had a smooth experience no matter what I do. This is our third flock.
We experienced death last year with a few of our birds and then got rid of the rest, got a brand new coupe on a brand new spot in our yard.
I got 10 day old chickens, and they have been on medicated starter, religiously cleaning their brooder, not letting a buildup of poop get too big. Giving them freshwater daily and making sure they are at the adequate temperature, etc. and at six weeks old I’m starting to see diarrhea as well as stuffed up noses in my chicks.
I see people all the time that have zero issues and I try so hard and every single time something goes wrong. It’s so discouraging.
I’m wondering if where we live is just not good for chickens or what’s going on because I don’t think I could have given this batch a more textbook upbringing and I’m already seeing signs of illnesses.
