Need urgent help with a sick chicken

my pullet is acting lethargic and lazy...isn't taking much interest in free ranging.. Ive checked her vent for egg binding... i didn't see her vent pulsating as the egg binding symptoms indicate such behavior .. there's no snot or fluid around her nose or mouth... she isn't wheezing or sneezing and no fluid in abdomen either...and no crop impaction,,, any idea whats happening before i loose the bird...

The "pulsing vent" is normal for all hens, not an indication of a problem.
How old is she? Have you ever wormed your flock? Brought in any new birds in recent weeks?

Check her over, check her breath.. . has she been laying normally ... has she stopped?

Do they freerange? Could she have eaten moldy food or something toxic?

You can get Duramycin (water soluable tetracycline)... mix it in water.. 1 teaspoon per gallon of drinking water...
You can separate her from the rest of the flock.. keep her warm and dry and watch to see that she is eating, pooping, drinking and breathing normally.. or not.

As far as worming goes.. if you have not ever and they are old enough.. search VALBAZEN.. or "worming with Valbazen".

Clean coop, fresh food and water regularly.. keep things clean and ventilated for the entire flock. Never use Cedar Shavings.

Treating for Eggbound is easy and harmless.. you can run a sink with warm water and soak her in the warm water.. while you check for anything inside her.. be careful not to break any egg you feel inside her.. stimulating her vent while you check for a stuck egg will make her want to poop or lay if she needs to.

Mites on chickens can drain them of energy and health as well. Do you dust with Sevin Dust now and then as preventative? Or, have you checked for mites around the vent, under the wings (armpits) or around the eyes?
