Hey there! Im getting 3 White Silkies on friday and they are gonna be put in a different brooder from my other chicks, because of size. Is there any extra advice i need to know about raising these bantams, or is it just like raising my other regular chick?

Opinions appreciated! Thanks

I'm new to raising chicks as well and got silkies! They're super easy. I haven't run into any problems with them and are basically like raising other chicks from what my MIL told me.

They are basically the same. One thing to watch out for though is if they get blind from all the feathers around their eyes. Just take a pair of scissors and trim them if that happens.

thanks. i know i have to keep them inside for the full 8 weeks until they can go outside. do you know how to mix them in with my regular sized chicks when they all come of age to go into there coop?

Honestly, if there's any way to keep them by eachother now... That's best! I had an old screen I used to separate them for a week or so until they could hold their own, but they were able to see eachother and when I put them together they acted as if they've always been together. And the other chicks are two weeks older than the others.

That's what mine are! I have a month old chicks with two week old chicks, but I introduced them at 2/1. I was really nervous about introducing them at that young... Especially since it was 7 against 2, but with the screen they must've adapted really well. I took the screen out changed their bedding, food, and water (made it so that they all were not focusing on the two new ones being introduced) and within the hour they were all sleeping! They didn't even peck/step on eachother.

Here they are! Only a few days after introducing them :)
