It's the duckling's due date and nothing...

Even without candling I can see that only less than half of the egg is shadowed.. it doesn't look good

Is the air cell supposed to get larger when hatching is close? I think I actually may have hope?!

Thanks, i'm trying to be optimistic, too. I'm hoping that I can post a happy update by tonight or tomorrow!

Medicated feed will not kill ducks. Yes in the past the medications they used in feed could and did kill ducks. They no longer use that type of medication. The type they use now is safe.

Your hen is beautiful. I hope it works out well for her and you!

my duck has gotten up pff her last 2 eggs, they never hatched either. i broke one and it was still in the early developmental stages:( i think she sensed this and got up .. sucks, i know......

Momof247371,
It really does stink and I am so sad.. nothing has happened and I don't think anything is going to..

I'm so sorry about your ducklings, I was hoping that at least you would get a successful hatch

I'm a little cheered up now, because I was looking on CL and there was an add for Indian Runner ducks and ducklings for sale!

I e-mailed them and they have a few day olds! I am planning on taking Wilma's egg away and replacing it with a duckling while she is on a swim break! I'm hoping this will be successful!!
If anybody has any tips on doing this or success stories, please share with me!

Also, what do I do with Wilma's egg and when am I going to be sure it's gone. It's day 29 today and no signs of life whatsoever. I'm scared to crack it open!!

It might be a rotten mess inside and I don't want to see a dead duckling!!

Oh my gosh!!!!! Okay so my mom, sister and I went to this guys house and instead of getting a duckling, we got 2 fertile eggs so we could switch out Wilma's one egg for. When we came back I candled the two new eggs. They had just been laid so there was no development. I went out and switched eggs(much to Wilma's distress). I brought her "bad egg" inside and candled it.....!!!! So at first I didn't know what I was seeing, then I made out a beak in the air cell!!! I could see it breathing and when I went to put it back under Wilma, I felt it pecking at the shell!!! I can't believe it right now and I am shaking!!!!
